Milo Supports Comics

Milo has put together a video to support Free Comic Book Day, which will happen on May 1st. On that day, comic shops around the world will give away comics for free. Milo is supporting this effort and how comics help with literacy.
As many of you know, Milo is involved with a comic series, Berserker, which he discussed recently with USA Today.

Ventimiglia has a guiding principle for his creative involvement in Berserker. “We’re trying to give the fans what they want. I’ve been a comic book reader since I was 8 years old, so I get it. When I look at the work that Rick and Jeremy are producing, I think to myself ‘would I want to read something like that?’ ” He adds, “We’re just aiming to create something that real comic fans love.”

Issue #5 of Berserker just came out at the end of March.

This Week’s Best Bets: New Horrors From ‘Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash,’ ‘Predator’ And Milo Ventimiglia!
By Rick Marshall on Tuesday, June 23, 2009

I’m running a day late on this week’s edition of “Best Bets,” but I hope you’ll excuse the delay. When someone offers advance tickets to “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” any self-respecting geek worth his long boxes knows that decisions have to be made and schedules should be shuffled for Optimus Prime — and let’s be honest here, Megan Fox.

So, without further excuses on my side, let’s get right to the best of this week’s comics with Hollywood ties, shall we?

“Milo Ventimiglia Presents: Berserker” #1 (Top Cow) — Last summer we first told you about this series from the production company of “Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia, and it’s finally hitting shelves this week. Written by “Friday Night Lights” scribe Rick Loverd, and featuring a cover by the talented Dale Keown (one of the best cover guys in the biz), “Berserker” tells the story of seemingly unconnected people who discover they’re descendants of an ancient Norse race prone to flying into uncontrollable fits of blood-lust. And who doesn’t like comics about uncontrollable fits of blood-lust, right?
