Milo Supports Comics

Milo has put together a video to support Free Comic Book Day, which will happen on May 1st. On that day, comic shops around the world will give away comics for free. Milo is supporting this effort and how comics help with literacy.
As many of you know, Milo is involved with a comic series, Berserker, which he discussed recently with USA Today.

Ventimiglia has a guiding principle for his creative involvement in Berserker. “We’re trying to give the fans what they want. I’ve been a comic book reader since I was 8 years old, so I get it. When I look at the work that Rick and Jeremy are producing, I think to myself ‘would I want to read something like that?’ ” He adds, “We’re just aiming to create something that real comic fans love.”

Issue #5 of Berserker just came out at the end of March.

Milo Ventimiglia Spoofs Streamy Acceptance

Milo Ventimiglia (Jess Mariano on Gilmore Girls) put together a spoof video of him accepting a Streamy award for his web series, Ultradome and/or Cinemash. In the spoof, he’s going through his acceptance when he receives a call and we find out he was never nominated for a Streamy for either. It’s a funny poke at the awards, which I do agree missed many web gems!

Milo Ventimiglia: Nerdage’s #18 actor

“Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia comes in at #18 on Nerdage’s list of actors with geek appeal.  Not only does Ventimiglia star as a superhero on the nerd-friendly “Heroes,” he’s also produced his own comic book – “Berserker,” from Top Cow.  Ventimiglia starred in a viral video promoting the comic.

“Berserker” started as a screenplay from Rick Loverd, a staff writer on “Friday Night Lights.” Ventimiglia, who portrays the superpowered Peter Petrelli on “Heroes,” and his producing partner Russ Cundiff both loved the script. But they thought the violence could make it a hard sell.

“They found this screenplay. They read it. They loved it; and they said, no one in their right mind is going to make this as a TV show or a movie – we should totally buy this,” Top Cow publisher Filip Sablik said. “Both Russ and Milo are comics fans, so they said this would be perfect for comics fans.”

Ventimiglia also promoted Free Comic Book Day this year with a viral video at freecomicbookday.com encouraging fans to visit local comic book stores on May 1.
